In this article we
explore the relationship between the Father and son.
1Kings
22:14-19
14And
Mikayehu said, “As YHWH lives, whatever YHWH says to me, that I speak.” 15And he came to the sovereign, and the sovereign said to him, “Mikayehu, do we go
against Ramoth Gil'ad to battle, or do we refrain?”
And he answered him, “Go and prosper,
for YHWH shall
give it into the hand of the sovereign!” 16And the sovereign
said to him, “How many times have I
made you swear that you do not speak to me,
except the truth, in the Name of YHWH?”
17So he said, “I
saw all Yisra’el scattered on the mountains, as
sheep that have no shepherd. And YHWH said,
‘These have no master. Let everyone return to his house
in peace.’ ” 18And the
sovereign of Yisra’el said to Yehoshaphat, “Have I
not said to you that he would not
prophesy good concerning me, but evil?” 19Then he said, “Therefore hear the
word of YHWH:
I saw YHWH sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing by Him, on His right and on His left.
In one of the first references to the
throne of the Eternal we see that the prophet sees the Father seated on the Throne.
He does not describe multiple Thrones, but a singular Throne with the Eternal
seated upon it. The Almighty is referred to in the singular sense (not two
people seated on the same throne).
Psalm
110:1-6
YHWH said to my Master, “Sit at My right hand, Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” 2YHWH sends Your mighty sceptre out of Tsiyon. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
3Your people
volunteer in the day of Your might, In the splendours of set-apartness! From
the womb, from the morning, You have the dew of Your
youth! 4YHWH has
sworn and does not relent, “You are a
priest forever According to the
order of Malkitsedeq.”
5YHWH at Your right hand Shall smite sovereigns
in the day of His wrath.
6He judges among
the nations, He shall fill the nations with dead bodies, He shall crush the Head over the
mighty earth!
In these Scripture verses we see David prophesying of Yahshua
Messiah. The Father will raise Messiah Yahshua to sit at His right hand until
the time of the great day of His wrath.
Isa’Yah
9:6-7
6For a Child shall
be born unto us, a Son shall be given unto us,
and the rule is on His shoulder.
And His Name is called Wonder, Counsellor,
Strong El, Father of Continuity, Prince of
Peace. 7Of
the increase of His rule and peace there is no end, upon the throne of Dawid
and over His reign, to
establish it and sustain it with right-ruling and with
righteousness from now on, even
forever. The ardour of YHWH of hosts does this.
This prophecy tells of the son of the Father, Yahshua
Messiah who will ascend to the Kingly throne of David (over the people of
Y’srael). The Father will raise him up according to His plans and give him a
seat of authority.
Luke 1:30-33
30And the messenger said to her, “Do not be afraid, Miryam, for you have found favour with Elohim. 31“And see, you shall conceive in your womb, and shall give birth to a Son, and call His Name Yahshua. 32“He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And YHWH Elohim shall give Him the throne of His father Dawid. 33“And He shall reign over the house of Ya'aqob forever, and there shall be no end to His reign.”
Here in the apostolic
writings we see the parallel, once again we see that Messiah Yahshua will be
given the throne of David, and that he will reign over Y’srael forever.
Luke 22:66-71
66And when it
became day, the elders of the people, both chief
priests and scribes, came together and they led Him
into their council, saying, 67“If You are the Messiah, say it to us.” And He said to them, “If I say to you, you would not believe it at all, 68and
if I asked you, you would not answer Me at all. 69“From now on the Son of Adam shall sit on the right hand
of the power of Elohim.”
70And they
all said, “Are You then the Son of Elohim?”
And He said to them, “You say that I am.” 71And they said, “Why do we need further
witness? For we heard it ourselves from His mouth.”
Here Messiah Yahshua is telling those who are questioning
him, that once he is gives up his life he will rise to the Father and sit at
His right hand. He also does not deny that he is the son of the Eternal when
asked. Yahshua does not infer that he will be rising to retake his place next
to the Father, but says that he will ascend to take his place next to the
Father.
John 18:36-37
36Yahshua answered, “My
reign is not of this world. If My reign were
of this world, My servants would fight, so that I
should not be delivered to the Yehudim. But now
My reign is not from here.”
37Then Pilate said
to Him, “You are a sovereign, then?” Yahshua answered, “You say it, because I am a sovereign.
For this I was born, and for this I
have come into the world, that I
should bear witness to the truth. Everyone
who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Yahshua affirms that he is
destined to be a King, and that he was born to spread the Truth of the Father.
Matthew 19:25-29
25And when
His taught ones heard it, they were
very astonished, saying, “Who then is able
to be saved?” 26And looking intently
Yahshua said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with Elohim all is possible.” 27Then Kepha answering,
said to Him, “See, we have left all
and followed You. What then shall we have?” 28And Yahshua said
to them, “Truly I say to you, when the Son of Adam
sits on the throne of His esteem, you who have followed Me in the rebirth, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Yisra’el. 29“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or
wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
In these writings, we see
Yahshua prophesying that when his time had come, he would sit on the Throne of
his esteem. Yahshua informs his followers that they too will be given thrones
when they are born anew as he will be.
Matthew 25:31-32
31“And
when the Son of Adam
comes in His esteem,
and all the set-apart messengers with Him,
then He shall sit
on the throne of His esteem.
32“And all
the nations shall be gathered before Him, and He
shall separate them one from another, as a
shepherd separates his sheep from the goats.
Here
Yahshua teaches his followers that he will be coming in his esteem, with many
angels. This is the prophesied return of Messiah. After his return he will sit
on his throne. He will judge the nations from his throne, separating the wheat
from the chaff.
The Sons throne
Acts
2:30
29“Men and
brothers, let me speak boldly to you of the ancestor
Dawid, that he died and was buried, and his tomb
is with us to this day. 30“Being a prophet,
then, and knowing that Elohim had sworn with an oath to him: of the fruit
of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne,
31foreseeing this
he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah,
that His being was neither left in
the grave, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32“Elohim has raised up this Yahshua, of which we are all witnesses. 33“Therefore,
having been exalted to the right hand of Elohim,
and having received from the Father the promise of the Set-apart Spirit, He poured out
this which you now see and hear. 34“For Dawid did not
ascend into the heavens, but he himself said,
‘YHWH said
to my Master, “Sit at My right hand, 35until
I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” ’ 36“Therefore
let all the house of Yisra’el know for certain
that Elohim has made this Yahshua, whom
you impaled,
both Master and Messiah.”
In Acts we are shown that Yahshua Messiah is the heir to
the throne of David, which is a kings Throne. We are shown that Yahshua will be
a flesh and blood descendant of David. These verses show that the Father has
raised up (not returned) Yahshua to His right hand, and made him Master and
Messiah.
Hebrews 8:1-2
Now the summary of what we are saying is:
We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the
right hand of the throne of the
Greatness in the heavens,
2and who serves in the set-apart
place and
of the true Tent, which YHWH set up and
not man.
Here Shaul shows the relationship between the Father and son,
and the role Mashiach has which is the capacity of a servant.
Hebrews 12:2
2looking to the
Princely Leader and Perfecter of our belief,
Yahshua, who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the stake, having despised the shame, and sat down at the
right hand of the
throne of Elohim.
Shaul shows us in Hebrews that Yahshua is the High Priest
and Princely leader, and that he is seated at the right hand of the Father.
Revelations and
The Throne
Revelations 1:4-8
4Yohanan, to
the seven assemblies that are in Asia: Favour to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming,
and from the seven Spirits that are before His throne, 5and from Yahshua Messiah, the trustworthy witness, the first-born from the dead, and the ruler of the sovereigns
of the earth. To Him who loved
us and washed us from our sins in His
own blood, 6and has made us sovereigns and priests to His Elohim and Father, to Him be esteem and rule forever and ever.
Amen. 7See, He is
coming with the clouds, and every eye shall
see Him, even they who pierced
Him. And all the tribes of the earth shall mourn
because of Him. Yea, Amen. 8“I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Taw’, Beginning and End,” says YHWH “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Here John is speaking the words from He
who sits upon the Throne, He who is, was, and is to come. John also speaks of
Yahshua, The first born from the dead. He confirms Yahshua’ princely role, and
acknowledges his sacrifice, that allows those who follow him to be exalted, and
be priests attending to him and to the Father.
Revelations
4:2-11
2And immediately I came to be in the Spirit and saw a throne set in the heaven, and One sat on the
throne. 3And
He who sat there was like a jasper and a ruby stone in appearance.
And there was a rainbow around
the throne, like an emerald in appearance. 4And around the
throne were twenty- four
thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four
elders sitting, dressed in white robes. And they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5And out of the throne came lightnings, and thunders, and voices. And seven lamps of fire
were burning before the throne, which are the
seven Spirits of Elohim.
Here we are shown the Throne of the Father,
near His Throne are twenty-four other thrones, which are the thrones of the
elders. Before the Throne are the seven Spirits of the Eternal. We are not
shown the throne of Messiah Yahshua.
6And before the
throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and
around the throne, were four living creatures,
covered with eyes in front and in back. 7And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8And
the four living creatures, each having six wings, were
covered with eyes around and within. And they do not
cease, day or night, saying, “Set-apart, set-apart, set-apart, YHWH El Shaddai, who was, and who is, and who is coming!” 9And when the living creatures give esteem and respect and thanks to Him who sits
on the throne, who lives forever
and ever,
10the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and bow before Him
who lives forever and ever,
and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11“You are
worthy, O YHWH, to receive esteem and respect and power, for You have
created all, and because of Your desire they
are, and were created.”
Here we see that four living creatures
are in the midst of the Throne. The living creatures and the elders give their
respect and thanks to the Eternal who sits on the Throne.
Revelations
5:1-7
And I saw in
the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll
written inside and on the back,
having been sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a strong
messenger proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loosen its seals?” 3And no one in the heaven or
on the earth or under the earth was able to open
the scroll, or to look at it. 4And
I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open
and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5And one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. See,
the Lion of the tribe of Yehudah, the
Root of Dawid, overcame to open the scroll and to loosen its seven seals.” 6And I
looked and saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing, as having
been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of
Elohim sent out into all the earth.
7And He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him sitting on the throne.
The Eternal who is seated on the Throne
has the scroll in His right hand, only Yahshua the lamb that overcame
and was slain, is able to accept the scroll from the Father. We see that
Yahshua (the lamb) is not seated on the Throne, but is near the Throne,
standing with the Living creatures and the Elders.
Revelations
5:8-14
8And when He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the set-apart ones. 9And they sang
a renewed song, saying, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals, because You were slain, and have redeemed us to Elohim by Your blood out of
every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10and made us
sovereigns and priests to our Elohim, and we shall
reign upon the earth.” 11And I looked, and I heard the voice of many messengers around the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders. And the number of them was myriads of myriads,
and thousands of thousands, 12saying
with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb having been
slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and respect and esteem and blessing!”
13And every creature which is in the heaven and on the earth and under the
earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying, “To Him sitting on the
throne, and to the Lamb, be the blessing and the respect and the esteem and the might, forever and ever!”
14And
the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders
fell down and bowed
before Him who lives forever and ever.
The living creatures and the elders
fell down before Yahshua the lamb praising and thanking him for redeeming them
before the Father of All creation. We then see the showering of praise and
thanks to the Father who sits upon the Throne and to the Lamb. Finally the
praise is given to Him who sits upon the Throne. Once again we see that Yahshua
the Lamb is not seated on the Throne. Note: The elders do not say that they
were made sovereigns and priests to YHWH and Yah’shua, but to the Father only.
Revelations
6:15-16
15And the
sovereigns of the earth, and the great ones, and the
rich ones, and the commanders, and the mighty, and
every slave and every free one, hid themselves in the
caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb,
After Yahshua opens the sixth seal, the
people of the Earth now realize what is happening and seek to hide from the
Father who sits on the Throne and from the Lamb. Again we see that the Father
is seated upon the Throne, and Yahshua the Lamb is referred to separately.
Revelations 7:9-10
9After
this I looked and saw a great crowd which no one was able to count, out of
all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in
white robes, and palm branches in their
hands, 10and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Deliverance
belongs to our Elohim who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11And all the messengers stood around the throne and the
elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces
before the throne and worshipped Elohim,
12saying, “Amen!
The blessing, and the esteem,
and the wisdom, and the thanksgiving,
and the respect, and the power, and the might, to our Elohim forever and ever. Amen.” 13And one of the
elders responded, saying to me, “Who are these dressed in white robes, and where did they come from?” 14And I said to him, “Master, you know.” And he said to me, “These are those coming
out of the great distress, having washed
their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15“Because of
this they are before the throne of Elohim, and serve Him day and night in His Dwelling Place. And He who sits on the throne shall spread His Tent over them. 16“They shall hunger no more,
neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun strike
them, nor any heat, 17because the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them and lead them to fountains of waters of life.
And Elohim shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Here we see the Father sitting upon the
Throne with the Lamb near to Him (midst). The Father and the son are given
esteem and praise by those who are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.
Revelations 21:3-7
3And I heard a
loud voice from the heaven saying, “See, the Booth of
Elohim is with men, and He shall dwell
with them, and they shall be His people, and Elohim Himself
shall be with them and be their Elohim. 4“And Elohim shall wipe
away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be
no more death, nor mourning, nor crying. And there shall be no more pain, for the former matters have passed away.” 5And He who was sitting on the throne said, “See, I
make all matters new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and trustworthy.” 6And
He said to me, “It is done! I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Taw’, the Beginning and the
End. To the one who thirsts I shall give of the fountain of the water of life without payment. 7“The one who overcomes shall inherit all this, and I shall be his Elohim and he shall be My son.
The Father of All creation affirms that
He is the First and the Last, and that all who follow in Yahshua Messiahs
footsteps will become His sons and He will be their El, just as Messiah Yahshua
overcame and is the son of the Father.
Revelations 22:1-6
And he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of
Elohim and of the Lamb.
2In the middle of
its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree
of life, which bore twelve fruits, each
tree yielding its fruit every month.
And the leaves of the tree were for the healing
of the nations. 3And no longer
shall there be any curse, and the throne
of Elohim and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants
shall serve Him. 4And
they shall see His face, and His Name shall be upon their foreheads. 5And
night shall be no more, and they shall have no need of a
lamp or the light of the sun, because YHWH Elohim shall give them light.
And they shall reign forever and ever. 6And
he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And YHWH Elohim of the set-apart prophets has sent His messenger
to show His servants what has to take place with speed.
The river of life shall flow from the Throne of the Father and of
the Lamb.
Revelations 3:20-21
20“See, I stand at
the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and
opens the door, I shall come in to him and dine with
him, and he with Me. 21“To him who overcomes I shall give to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down
with My Father on His throne.
In these verses Yahshua lets the reader/listener know
that if they follow in his footsteps, overcoming the sins of the flesh and of
the world, they will also be given a place of esteem, just as the Father gave
him a place of esteem. Yahshua is able to give his followers a place upon his
throne, just as the Father has given Yahshua a place on His Throne. What is the
impact of Yahshua overcoming? What did he overcome, but the sins of the world?
We do not see in any
of these Scripture references that Yahshua Messiah is the Father, he is
referred to as the Lamb, son of man, Master, Messiah, son of the Most High,
sovereign, High Priest, etc.
In all of these
references the Father is seen sitting on the Throne and Yahshua is seen
as at the right hand of the Father.
When Messiah
Yahshua returns he will sit on the throne of his esteem
Acts 2:21-2
21‘And it shall be
that everyone who calls on the Name of YHWH shall
be saved.’ 22“Men of Yisra’el, hear
these words: Yahshua of Natsareth, a Man from Elohim, having been pointed out to you by mighty works, and
wonders, and signs which Elohim did
through Him in your midst, as you
yourselves also know, 23this One, given up by the set
purpose and foreknowledge of Elohim,
you have impaled and put to death through the
hands of lawless men – 24“Him Elohim raised up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was impossible
that He could be held in its grip. 25“For Dawid says
concerning Him, ‘I saw YHWH before me
continually, because He is at my right
hand, in order that I should not be shaken. 26‘For this reason my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad, and now my flesh shall also rest in expectation, 27because
You shall not leave my being in the grave, nor shall You give Your Kind One to see corruption. 28‘You
have made known to me the ways of life, You shall fill
me with joy in Your presence.’ 29“Men and brothers, let me speak boldly to you of the ancestor Dawid, that he died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30“Being a
prophet, then, and knowing that Elohim had sworn with
an oath to him: of the fruit
of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the
Messiah to sit on his throne,
31foreseeing this
he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah,
that His being was neither left
in the grave, nor did His flesh see
corruption. 32“Elohim has raised up this Yahshua, of which we are all witnesses. 33“Therefore, having been
exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having
received from the
Father the promise of the Set-apart
Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
34“For Dawid did
not ascend into the heavens, but he himself said,
‘YHWH said
to my Master, “Sit at My right hand, 35until I make Your
enemies a footstool for Your feet.” ’
36“Therefore let
all the house of Yisra’el know for certain
that Elohim has made this Yahshua, whom you impaled, both Master and Messiah.”
Acts 5:29-31
29And Kepha
and the other emissaries answering, said, “We
have to obey Elohim rather than men. 30“The Elohim of our fathers raised up Yahshua whom
you laid hands on, hanging Him on a timber. 31“Him, a Prince and a Saviour, Elohim has exalted to
His right hand, to give repentance to Yisra’el and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 7:55-56
55But
he, being filled with the Set-apart Spirit, looked steadily into the heaven and saw the esteem of Elohim, and Yahshua standing at the right
hand of Elohim, 56and he said,
“Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Adam standing at the right hand of Elohim!”
Ephesians 1:19-23
19and what is the
exceeding greatness of His power toward us
who are believing, according
to the working of His mighty strength, 20which He wrought
in the Messiah when He raised
Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,
21far above all rule and authority
and power and mastery, and every name that is
named, not only in this
age but also in that which is to come.
22And He put all under His feet, and gave Him to be head over
all, to the assembly, 23which
is His body, the completeness of Him who fills all in
all.
Hebrews
1:1-9
Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by
the prophets, 2has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has
appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages, 3who
being the brightness of the esteem and the exact
representation of His substance,
and sustaining all by the word of His power,
having made a cleansing of our sins through Himself, sat down at the right hand of the Greatness on high,
4having become so much better than the messengers, as He has inherited a more excellent Name than
them. 5For
to which of the messengers did He ever say,
“You are My Son, today I have brought
You forth”? And again, “I shall be to Him a
Father, and He shall be to Me a Son”? 6And when He again brings
the first- born into the world,
He says, “Let all the messengers of Elohim
do reverence to Him.” 7And of the messengers indeed He says, “... who is making His messengers spirits
and His servants a flame of fire.” 8But to the Son He says, “Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever, a sceptre of straightness is the sceptre of Your reign. 9“You
have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Because of this,
Elohim, Your Elohim, has
anointed You with the oil of
gladness more than Your companions.”
Hebrew 10:8-17
8Saying
above, “Slaughter and meal offering, and burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor delighted in,” which are offered according to the Torah, 9then He said,
“See, I come to do Your desire, O Elohim.” He takes
away the first to establish the second. 10By that
desire we have been set apart through the offering of the body of Yah’shua Messiah
once for all. 11And indeed every
priest stands day by day doing service, and
repeatedly offering the same slaughter
offerings which are never able to take away
sins. 12But He, having
offered one slaughter offering for sins for all time,
sat down at the right hand of Elohim, 13waiting from that time onward until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14For by one offering
He has perfected for all time those who are
being set apart. 15And the
Set-apart Spirit also witnesses to us, for after having
said before, 16“This is the
covenant that I shall make with them after
those days, says YHWH, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them,” 17and,
“Their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall remember no
more.”
Yahshua and Joseph comparing authority
Genesis
41:39-44
39Then Pharaoh
said to Yoseph, “Since Elohim has shown you
all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as
you. 40“Be over my
house, you yourself, and at your mouth all
my people shall kiss – only in the throne
I am greater than you.” 41And Pharaoh said to Yoseph, “See, I have set you over
all the land of Mitsrayim.” 42And
Pharaoh took his seal-ring off his hand and put it on
Yoseph’s hand. And he dressed him in garments of fine
linen and put a gold chain around his neck. 43And he had him ride in the second chariot
which he had. And they cried out before him, “Bow
the knee!” And he set him over all the land of Mitsrayim.
44And
Pharaoh said to Yoseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without a word from you let no man lift his hand or foot in all the land of Mitsrayim.”
Here we see the
parallel of the authority granted to Mashiach Yah’shua. He has been given the
role of a magistrate, he has been given the authority of the Father.
In all of these scriptures we see that Mashiach Yah’shua
has inherited the throne (the secondary seat of authority) at the right hand of
the Father of all creation. He will grant lesser seats of authority to those
who persevere.
Revelations 14:3-4
3And they sang a
renewed song before the throne, and before the
four living creatures, and the elders. And no one was
able to learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4They are those
who were not defiled with women, for they
are maidens. They are those following the Lamb wherever He leads them
on. They were
redeemed from among men, being first-fruits to Elohim and to the Lamb.
We see that those who are redeemed from
the world are first-fruits to the Father and to the Lamb.
May we be found worthy of a place in
